Information Gain Density
Information Gain Density counts the distinct original insights a page carries against what already ranks. Most topics need 5 to 7.
"Information Gain Density is the only content metric I have ever measured that predicts AI citation before the page is published."
Google's 2018 information gain patent describes a mechanism. It does not give a content team a unit of measurement. Information Gain Density does: the count of distinct, original, attributable insights on a page, measured against the saturation of the pages already ranking.
Across roughly 400 priority pages Searchbloom audited or produced, the pages that won a citation slot in AI Overviews clustered at 5 to 7 original insights. The absorbed pages carried 0 or 1. That is the 5-to-7 Rule.
