Cody C. Jensen

About Cody

Cody C. Jensen is an entrepreneur, inventor, investor and the CEO & Founder of Searchbloom, which he launched in December 2014.

Where It Started

Cody C. Jensen began his career at Google, on Google Offers (Google's answer to Groupon). In his words: "I started, I guess, in the industry at Google, but really it was Google offers." It was his first introduction to web analytics, and he spent 2 years there.

From Google he moved into business development at a custom development company, where he learned to code. Then came leadership roles at some of the largest agencies in digital marketing, across SEO, pay-per-click and conversion rate optimization. He was a director of strategy when he left to build his own. Along the way he also started his own PPC company.

Why Searchbloom

In December 2014 he launched Searchbloom as the transparent alternative, because he had seen firsthand how much of the SEO industry overpromised and underdelivered. It started in a basement, and at first he did every job himself.

"I founded the company. I was the account manager, I was the SEO, I was the PPC, I was the CRO, I was all of the things."

Searchbloom Today

Searchbloom is a full-service search marketing agency headquartered in South Jordan, Utah, and it runs fully virtual. It covers SEO, AI SEO, Google Ads, conversion rate optimization, web development, link building and digital PR. It manages more than $100 million in annual ad spend and keeps over 95 percent of its partners.

Searchbloom won a Search Engine Land Award in 2021 and was a finalist in 2020, 2024 and 2025. Inc. named it a Best Workplace in 2022, 2024 and 2026. It made the MWCN Utah 100 in 2020 and 2021. Clutch named Cody a Top SEO Consultant in 2018 and 2019.

What He Invents and Publishes

Cody wrote the methodologies Searchbloom runs every engagement on: ART for SEO, MERIT for AI search, ACE for PPC, UTU for CRO and TRUST for web development. He published the MERIT Framework whitepaper in October 2025.

In 2026 most of his writing is about information gain: how much net new information a page needs to earn a citation in AI search, and how to measure it. He coined the names for several of the mechanisms along the way, including Corpus Engineering, Information Gain Density, Information Gain Decay and Consensus Collapse. He has published 71 articles on searchbloom.com since 2015. He builds his own software too, including the CMS this site runs on and Sheetah, Searchbloom's free form-to-spreadsheet tool.

Beyond Searchbloom

Cody co-founded Avenues Financial, an accounting and bookkeeping firm, and invests in several other businesses through Shadow Path Ventures, his family investment office.

How He Works

Searchbloom calls the businesses it serves partners, and Cody built the agency on transparency and ethics. In his words: "Transparency and trust are the cornerstones of a successful digital marketing agency."

In his own work he runs dozens of AI agents in parallel, each one held to the same rule: "Every output undergoes human review before delivery. That is human in the loop."

He is a frequent podcast guest on search marketing and agency growth, and journalists at PCMag and The Mirror have quoted him on Searchbloom's research.

Off the Clock

Cody grew up in a small town just north of Salt Lake City, the oldest of 3 siblings. He studied at Utah Valley University's Woodbury School of Business. He lives in Utah with his wife and children, gives back to his community, and sneaks in a round of golf when he can.
